Butterfly Room

The Butterfly Room caters for children from around eighteen months to two and half years. We work on a ratio of of one member of staff to three children (under two years) and one member of staff to four children (over two years).

 

The biggest area in the Butterfly Room is the Messy Play area where the children are encouraged to be independent in selecting activities and equipment for themselves. Children benefit from a range of adult led activities aswell as initiating their own play to support their learning and development.

 

When a child moves from the Caterpillar Room into the Butterfly Room, their routine is continued to suit their individual needs. This includes their sleep time where they continue to be fully supervised.

 

All the children sit round a low table with chairs at mealtimes and younger children who may be a little unstable can be strapped in so they can enjoy mealtimes with the other children. We help support their feeding development, working towards using open cups and the full range of cutlery.
